During the summer of 2023, charitable organisation SomosCR (https:\/\/somoscr.co.uk\/<\/a>) undertook a series of five interviews with Latin American refugee women as part of its Somos Podcast project, with the financial support of the office for Social Responsibility of the University of Manchester and the office for Social Responsibility of the Faculty of Humanities and that of the School of Social Sciences, University of Manchester. We are indebted, in particular, to Peter Wade, Professor of Social Anthropology, for his support, advice and encouragement during the process. The interviews give powerful insights into some of the factors that may cause a person to seek refuge in another country, and whilst some of the content is difficult to hear, each interviewee conveys a strong sense of faith in the human condition and the power of perseverance and hope. We have presented the interviews in various formats in both Spanish and English. We thank everyone involved in the making of the videos, and extend special thanks to Maria (El Salvador); Josie (Nicaragua); Cindy (Honduras); Sally (Guatemala) and Juana (Chile). <\/p>\n

Durante el verano de 2023, la organizaci\u00f3n ben\u00e9fica SomosCR (https:\/\/somoscr.co.uk\/<\/a>) realiz\u00f3 una serie de cinco entrevistas con mujeres refugiadas latinoamericanas como parte de su proyecto Somos Podcast, con el apoyo financiero de la oficina de Responsabilidad Social de la Universidad de Manchester y la oficina de Responsabilidad Social de la Facultad de Humanidades y la de la Escuela de Ciencias Sociales, Universidad de Manchester. Estamos en deuda, en particular, con Peter Wade, profesor de Antropolog\u00eda Social, por su apoyo, asesoramiento y aliento durante el proceso.
